FAQ

What is the theme of this zine?
This zine aims to discuss and pay tribute to Shigaraki Tomura (born Shimura Tenko) and the connections (romantic or platonic) that shaped his life.
What ships will be allowed in this zine?
Most, if not all of them, will have a spot somewhere in this project. If you’re making something sexually explicit we just ask that the characters be aged up due to legal risks for several of our moderators.
An important note: To preserve diversity of content in the zine there will only be a finite amount of spots for content from each ship- we will adjust as needed to meet demand but you can expect that no more than a few pieces in one piece of the project will be a popular ship like ShigaDabi. This also extends to platonic relationships. We will try to keep things fair though and give spots to popular ships reasonably in response to contributor demand.Where will the profits be going?
This zine is for profit so all profits will be divided evenly among every member of the team. If we do not break even the minimum compensation that contributors can expect is a pdf copy of the zine and the ability to buy at production price.
Is this zine physical or digital?
This zine will be physical with a harder kink/nsfw digital add-on. The physical will actually be two books- one longer book (in black and white) that is a written anthology and one shorter book that will be focused on comics and in full color. Both books will be a5.
Are there any kinks that aren’t allowed in the add-on?
Formicophilia, Scat or Piss Kink, Loli and Shota-con.
What is allowed into the main zine?
Much more than you might think! Shigaraki’s life certainly wasn’t sunshine and rainbows so there will be some darker content allowed into the physical part of the project. For a full list of specifics please refer to our applicant guidelines.
Are there any age limits for those looking to apply?
Yes, due to the discussion of mature subjects we request that all applicants be 18 or older at the time of application.
Can contributors apply for multiple roles?
Yes, contributors can apply for multiple roles, they will only be accepted for one though.
_What is covered under the "Miscellaneous Role" application?
The three roles that are named under it are Cosplayers, 3D artists, and Podficers or VA's. These are only named as compared to say, chefs or musicians, since they are more commonly seen in fan-zines. If you have any questions about applying please DM the zine's twitter or tumblr. We are open to basically any roles that come to the table although we cannot guarantee acceptance.

Guidelines

The following content is not allowed in the zine. If you created these types of content outside the zine or decide to use them as samples, it will not count against you.- Snuff (as in snuff films. This is not referring to simply gore but rather works based on films that depict real people dying for the pleasure of the film maker).- Formicophilia- Scat or Piss Kink- No demonization of the mentally ill.- No Shota-con or Loli-con (this is due to the risk of such content leading to several of our mods getting in serious legal trouble due to the laws of their home country. Please do not take this exclusion personally).Mentions of CSA will be allowed but actual depictions will not be due to the above legal reasons mentioned.

What is not allowed in the physical zine, but is allowed in the add-on?- Gore- Sexual presentation of kinks- Torture (IE: Waterboarding, sexual torture, starvation as a punishment, intentional isolation ala solitary confinement, etc.)- Rape- And other more visceral types of explicit dead-dove.This above list may be updated as applications continue as we get a greater.Note: any applicant’s personal creation of content that is restricted inside the zine will not affect their applications. Contributors can create whatever content they so choose before, during, and after the zine without it having any bearing on their standing as a contributor.Alternate Universe ContentWhile this Zine aims to focus on Canon-compliant, Canon-adjacent, and Canon-divergent content of Shigaraki, we will have a number of spots allocated to fully AU content! These will be allocated in response to applicant demand but the amount shouldn’t breach 30/70.Canon-adjacent content is content that fleshes out things that happen in the gaps of canon. Typically Explaining something that wasn’t fully fleshed out like say how Shigaraki’s clothes are still black despite using his quirk. Canon-divergent is fully to partially diverging from canon- it can be small and also an ‘in the gaps’ type story or it can be bigger, for want of a nail style.

Applications

Writers
Writers may apply with samples of 1,500 words to 5,000 words. There is a 100 word grace period both ways.
- One of these samples must be a complete story, others can be excerpts of larger stories.- One of the samples provided must also feature BNHA. Showing your ability to write Shigaraki is optional but VERY highly encouraged. While applications that do not display Shigaraki will not be outright disqualified applications that show how the author characterizes Shigaraki will be preferred.- A writing portfolio is optional but highly encouraged. We will be looking for applications that demonstrate the following skills:- Ability to build a scene- Characterization- Flow/Pacing- Grammar- Overall quality and cohesiveness of work.- Creativity of content and of pitches. If you want to be considered for the NSFW add-on you must apply with at least one NSFW piece.Artists- Non-merch artists should include at least one piece demonstrating their ability to render a complete background in their application. One piece must be BNHA.- A portfolio is required.- In samples we will be looking for applicants that show their skill in:- Value and Color- Anatomy- Composition- Lighting- Building an atmosphere with their art.- If you wish to contribute a comic to the zine you must have either a comic as one of your samples or in your portfolio. A comic within your portfolio can be unfinished as long as it allows us to get a feel for your ability to block a comic.- If you want to be considered for the NSFW add-on you must apply with at least one NSFW piece.Merch Artists- Merch artists are encouraged to show one piece in samples or portfolio that demonstrates their ability to render a background. This is doubly encouraged for those that want to contribute prints. It is also encouraged, to an extent, for those who want to contribute Oracle or Tarot cards.- A portfolio is mandatory- In samples we will be looking for applicants that show their skill in:- Value and Color- Anatomy- Composition- Lighting- Building an atmosphere with their art.

Variety is key. Everyone will be graded on pitches so please, go as out there and as creative as you can dream of. The creativity of pitches and the ideas presented there-in will have an effect on your application and will be graded just like your samples
The same is true of ships/dynamics, as we want to present a range of diverse pairings within the zine. Please do not let this deter you from pitching ships or dynamics you like just try and make those pitches as diverse as possible.

Zine Specifications

- Both physical zines will be A5 with the art book in color and the written anthology in black and white.- Comics are planned to heavily feature in the physical art book, we will have spots for page counts ranging from 2 pages all the way to 6 pages.- The Digital add-on will be A5 as well for consistency of layout.- Any card templates will be provided during on-boarding for those working on tarot/oracle cards. The cards are planned to have simplified to medium complexity backgrounds. The current plan is to do either a Lenormand (A 36 card Oracle deck) or a Major Arcana deck. How many contributors are we looking to take in through applications?_ In the physical, zine we are (currently) looking to have:- 12-14 writers- 20-24 page artists (8-15 comic artists + 15-9 non-comic artists)- 5+ merch artistsIn the digital add-on we are looking to take in at least:- 5+ writers
- 10+ artists
What will be expected of contributors?- Completing check ins on time or giving notice if you need an extension.- Allowing moderators to see your progress at every check-in. Showing your work to the others in the zine is not mandatory as we will be using check in form. If you appreciate and function better with peer-feedback though, sharing your work on the server is encouraged.- Coexisting (relatively peacefully) with others, even if you personally dislike them.- No harassment will be allowed.Lastly:Artist contributors will have the option to contribute merch (be that digital merch or oracle/tarot cards or otherwise) to the zine but this is purely optional and will not be forced on any contributor unless they are a pinch hitter called in to do that specific merch item.
